Glen Cove High School Masquers Society Presents Sweeney Todd

The Glen Cove High School Masquers Society will present its production of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m. on the Glen Cove High School stage. Set in 19th century England, the musical tells the story of Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeney Todd, who returns to London after 15 years' in a penal colony on trumped-up charges. When he finds out that his wife poisoned herself after being raped by the judge who sent him away him, he vows revenge on the judge and, later, the world. Sweeney teams up with a piemaker, Mrs. Lovett, and opens a barbershop in which he cuts the throats of customers and has them baked into pies.

Sweeney Todd stars Michael Banks as the infamous ‘Demon Barber of Fleet Street.’ Edward Norris is the musical director; Tom Wallace provides stage direction.
