Glen Cove High School inducted 21 students into the National Honor Society on May 16, recognizing their stellar academic record and commitment to community service.

Acting Principal Roseann Cirnigliaro and Mayor Ralph Suozzi were on hand to congratulate the inductees on their impressive achievement of joining such a respected organization. Francine Perez, advisor of NHS, shared some examples of the positive impact NHS members have made in the community during her “Year in Review” presentation. Students Michael Burrell and Angad Sodhi explained the significance of character, scholarship and leadership, respectively, with Elias Blinkoff discussing service and character during the candle lighting ceremony.

“To be a part of National Honor Society is a great opportunity because these students are so involved in a lot of community service – not just honor society, but so many other clubs and activities. The students here really want to give back to the community, to help out in all populations, in all groups,” Perez said. “They get back as much as they give. These students are so willing and generous with their time and effort.”
