NJHS Welcomes New Members

Recognizing student achievement both inside and outside of the classroom, the National Junior Honor Society at Finley Middle School welcomed 20 new inductees as part of its annual induction ceremony. Graduating eighth grade members and the society’s officers participated in the ceremony, which officially welcomed the students to the NJHS.

In order to gain acceptance into the honor society, students must demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. Finley’s NJHS chapter participates and facilitates a variety of community service projects, including volunteering at the Deasy Elementary School library, Breast Cancer Awareness Walk-a-Thon and Ronald McDonald House bake sale. Linda Thomas-Batson is the adviser.

“I know that your path to tonight started a long time ago,” said Principal Nelson Iocolano while addressing the new inductees. “Your commitment to excellence is not only demonstrated in the type of students you are, but the type of human beings that you are. I am proud to say that I know you.”
