Renowned chef, food researcher and BOCES educator Dr. Robert Dell'Amore recently presented his innovative and interactive, award-winning nutrition education workshop entitled “The Power of FOOD: Life Skills for Nutrition, Children and Families" to students at Deasy Elementary School. Youngsters helped to prepare, serve and eat two delicious recipes: a kale salad and a sautéed pasta dish, all prepared by Dr. Dell’Amore and his assistant Elaine Medin using healthy ingredients including an assortment of fruits and vegetables, olive oil and black paper, among other items.

In a fun and engaging manner, Dr. Dell’Amore explained to students the powerful benefits of fruits and vegetables and how they are healthier, make them live longer and feel better overall. All of his recipes are peanut, meat, dairy, salt, butter and sugar free. The Deasy School PTA in conjunction with principal Nomi Rosen sponsored the program.
