Connolly Elementary School students took their annual march around the school campus to raise funds (through pledges) and awareness to help fight breast cancer, an event coordinated by the Connolly Student Council. Under the direction of Student Council adviser Sue Stanco and teacher Monique Vaccaro, the school raised $463 to be donated to Glen Cove CARES and other cancer charities. Superintendent of Schools Maria Rianna, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Dr. Michael Israel and Connolly Principal Rosemarie Sekelsky joined students and teachers during the walk, many of them wearing the color pink for breast cancer awareness.
