Catching Dreams with Your Buddies

Fourth-graders in Mrs. DePace and Mrs. Hernandez's classes at Landing School visited their first-grade buddies down the road at Deasy School. Landing students joined students in Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Russo and Mrs. DePietro's classes in reading the Native American story: Brother Eagle, Sister Sky. Landing students then shared facts they learned in class about Native Americans with their buddies. Each student also created his/her own dream catcher, a handmade object based on the Native American willow hoop, which is a loosely woven net often decorated with sacred items such as feathers and beads. They serve as a symbol of unity by many Native Americans.
