A Tasteful Lesson in Language, Business and Etiquette

Students in Rosa Malley’s Spanish class at Finley Middle School transformed their classroom into a Spanish restaurant for a day. Part of the project included designing menus, comprised of dishes and descriptions written entirely in Spanish. To make the experience authentic, students reconfigured their desks to simulate a dining area, complete with table clothes and the proper place settings. Students were expected to place their order in Spanish, exercise proper dining etiquette and even pay the bill, calculating the tip based on percentage of the total amount while considering the quality of service.

Ms. Malley played the role of the waiter. She was pleasantly surprised by the generosity.
