Fifteen students in grades 6-8 at Robert M. Finley Middle School competed in last month’s Nassau County Science Olympiad, held at Port Washington’s Weber Middle School. The Finley students competed in 11 separate events ranging from science crime busters to the weight-bearing Boomilever. Congratulations to the team of Ryan Telese and Joseph Yee for winning the bronze medal in the wheeled vehicle event (main photo), as well as Amanda Ieraci and Monika Jagustyn, who combined to place sixth in the Boomilever competition (seen in alternate photo).

Students worked for two months after school in preparation for this Olympic–style marathon day of science that welcomed close to 50 teams from throughout Nassau. Finley Middle School Science Olympiad adviser and science teacher Jeff Eisele would like to congratulate all of the school’s participants on a job well done.
