Congratulations to Glen Cove High School senior Danny Casale, who has won another major media art show. This time, Danny took 1st place in the annual LIU Post Student Film/Video Festival, a show he also won last year when fellow classmate Shalyn Cabaroy took 2nd place.

“Danny continues to help show that Glen Cove High School and GCTV is a force to reckon with in the Educational Television Production business,” said Chris Barry, Danny’s Media Communications teacher. “Our name is consistently on top. I'm so proud of him. To my recollection, I don't recall any student winning this festival back-to-back and I've been going with our students for at least 10 years now.”

Danny won for his video entitled "How to Travel to an Alternate Dimension." According to Mr. Barry, tutorials or "how to" videos are often assigned to high school and college video/film students. “Leave it to the mind of Danny Casale to choose ‘How to Travel to an Alternate Dimension’ and pull it off,” he added.

Danny recently won his second consecutive Best in Show award at the Long Island Media Art Show, held at Five Towns College for his entry "A Pleasant Yardsale," a short film in which he stars alongside an animated character who haggles with him over his priceless squash. Additionally, the theatrical premiere of Danny’s first full-length documentary titled “The God Doc,” will take place on May 7 at the Glen Cove movie theater. On May 17, "A Pleasant Yardsale" will be shown at the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington as part of the First Exposure Film Festival.

Danny is pictured being congratulated by Barbara Fowles, Chairperson of the LIU Post Media Arts Department. He was recently accepted into the extremely competitive SUNY Purchase BFA Film program, which takes in only 20-25 students out of approximately 2,000 applicants each year. He has also been accepted into Syracuse University and Emerson College, two of the finest communications schools in the country.
