The Huntington Camera Club has once again recognized a Glen Cove High School photography student in its annual photography competition for high school students.  Sophomore Tatiana Leto won Honorable Mention in the “Energy” category for her black and white photograph of varsity cheerleader and dancer Allie Cappiello, who she captured striking a sculptural pose in mid-air.  The Nikon sponsored competition receives more than 600 entries each year from Long Island high schools, and Glen Cove High School has historically produced award-winning students in this contest.

Tatiana and her teacher Melissa Johnides were honored during a ceremony held at the Huntington Elks Lodge earlier this month. Judges noted that "the 'S' curve exudes energy" and according to Ms. Johnides, they were amazed that Tatiana did not need to manipulate the image in Photoshop to achieve a flawless photo.  Students from both Ms. Johnides’s and Stephen Lombardo's class participated in the contest.
