Robert M. Finley Middle School will present a production of Seussical Jr. on Friday March 18, Saturday March 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday March 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Wunsch Center at Finley Middle School. Now one of the most performed musicals in the country, Seussical Jr. brings Dr. Seuss’ most famous characters to life, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, Jojo– the little boy with a big imagination and all of the Whos down in Whoville. The story centers around Horton, who finds himself faced with a double challenge–not only must he protect his friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant; in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

Finley Middle school students in grades six, seven and eight, have been rehearsing their parts for several weeks and look forward to playing to packed houses. Joanne Joy Sullivan is the Finley Middle School Theater Director and she encourages you to come out and support these talented young performers.
