The girls varsity tennis team, led by coach Chris MacDonald, took a unique journey to their conference title. After a regular season record of 9-3, Glen Cove earned a first-round home playoff match vs. Plainedge. Glen Cove was able to defend their home field advantage and win 5-2, allowing them to advance to the conference semifinals, where they faced off against the undefeated East Meadow.

Competing against East Meadow’s regular season record of 12-0 seemed daunting; however, Glen Cove was able to win decisively, 5-2, advancing to the conference finals against rival Calhoun. Calhoun defeated Glen Cove twice during the regular season by a score of 4-3. Calhoun also had an undefeated record of 13-0 leading up to the final match. Glen Cove’s resilient group of girls knew that they could rise to the challenge, and although the match was a close grind, Glen Cove edged out Calhoun 4-3, taking home the Conference 3 title.
