Connolly Fundraiser Benefits Make-A-Wish Foundation

Connolly students in Tara Pilewski's third-grade class recently raised $1,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Pilewski tasked students with researching local charities on the computer. Each group took notes and wrote a speech to teach their classmates what they had learned about their organization. After completing their research, students discussed what charity would benefit the most from a donation and voted to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Students planned a breakfast sale to help raise money and, with the help of Connolly’s parent volunteers, collected close to $500 during the event. A secret donor decided to match that donation, allowing the students to donate $1,000 to the organization.

The students also created thank-you cards to Make-A-Wish volunteers for all their hard work and dedication helping those who are sick.
