Chinese New Year Celebration

Third-grade Connolly students celebrated Chinese New Year as part of their unit study on China.

The children learned about China's history and culture, and as a culminating activity participated in a Chinese food tasting on Feb. 26. They had fun making crafts and hats and took to the school’s hallways in a Dragon Parade. In the spirit of Chinese culture, Connolly teachers gave each student a red envelope with gold coins as a token of good luck and prosperity for the New Year. Chinese New Year began on Feb. 19 and lasted for 15 days. It is the Year of the Sheep, Goat.
