Fourteen Glen Cove High School students had an opportunity to spend the day job shadowing a career of their interest as part of the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau’s Teens on the Job Shadow Day.

For more than 10 years, the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau and Glen Cove High School have collaborated to expose sophomore students to a typical workday experience of a desired career. During the five-hour day, students pair up and spend time with career mentors, who share details of what each job entails, while providing insight into the skills and education required. The career mentors also offer information on any pathways to obtaining those skills.

Students had an opportunity to shadow career mentors at several local businesses, including Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, Glen Cove Police Department, Glen Cove Hospital, Long Island Academy of Fine Arts, Radio Shack and the View Grill.
