Crocheting with Heart

Landing students in the PTA’s after-school Crocheting Club created scarves for the HeartScarves program of WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.

The 12 students accepted the challenge to crochet with “heart,” creating four red scarves, which the organization will hand deliver to women in the hospital or in cardiac rehab centers right after a cardiac event. The scarves were designed to be 3 to 4 inches wide and 50 to 60 inches long so they can be used during medical procedures without getting tangled with medical equipment. A printed gift card is attached to each scarf, explaining the meaning of the HeartScarves program.

In addition to the four scarves made by students, the Crocheting Club will donate another seven scarves thanks to donations from friends and community members.
