Recognition and ScholarChip Presentation at BOE Meeting

Members of the Board of Education were honored for their tireless work on behalf of the district’s students at their recent Board meeting.
Superintendent of Schools Maria Rianna thanked each Board member in attendance and presented him or her with a certificate and small token of appreciation. The recognition commemorated the New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week, which runs from Oct. 26-30. The week enables school board members to be thanked for their volunteer service to their schools and community.
“I know the work you do is from your heart to help support the children of the district,” Rianna said.
After the recognition, Glen Cove High School Principal Antonio Santana presented information on ScholarChip, a student management system being implemented at the high school. Santana said the technology helps to monitor attendance, offers campus safety and can eventually be used for student transactions. Currently, students are using their individual Smart Cards to tap into the attendance kiosks upon arrival at school.
