The Glen Cove High School Select Chorale has been chosen to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Convention before more than 500 choral directors from throughout New York State. The convention will be held on October 22 at the Linehan Chapel at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.

ACDA President Brandon Johnson invited the Glen Cove HS Select Chorale based on the fine reputation of the Glen Cove Choral Department. The group is one of eight choral ensembles to perform at the convention, and the only group chosen from the Long Island/ downstate region. Congratulations to Glen Cove High School Chorale Director Edward Norris, whose students have performed at many concerts in the area as well as tours in PA., Washington D.C., and twice in Florida.

“This is one of the biggest and greatest opportunities in the history of the Chorale,” said Mr. Norris, whose group took top honors at the North American Music Festival in Virginia Beach this past April. They were awarded first place, and top ensemble for the entire festival (band, choir and orchestra).

“Throughout all of these wonderful performances, one thing has remained constant; the talent, and dedication of our students!” added Mr. Norris. “Each and every year the students of the choral department work so very hard to put the best product out during performance, and this year will be no different. Although this will be our most challenging performance to date, the students of Glen Cove will rise to the occasion.”
