Students at Landing were encouraged to perform random acts of kindness during the school’s Kindness Week, held from Feb. 29-March 4.

During a schoolwide assembly on Feb. 25, members of the school’s student council promoted Kindness Week by giving examples of how to be kind. The group urged schoolmates to write kind notes to friends, to pick up any garbage they might see and to show kindness to teachers, classmates and others. They also reinforced the message, kindness matters.

As part of the Kindness Week activities, students were given a kind acts checklist to track their good deeds. They also took part in spirit days, such as Team Kindness, wearing sports gear or their favorite team jersey; Peace, Love and Kindness Day, dressing in hippie gear; Ride the Wave to Kindness, sporting beach attire. Crazy for Kindness and Kindness is the Landing Way finished out the week, with students wearing Landing T-shirts.

Landing’s Kindness Week correlated with The Great Kindness Challenge School Edition, which was created by Kids for Peace to provide schools a tool for creating a positive school environment.
