Deasy second-graders in Michael Battaglia’s class presented their Can-a-Character book reports at the March PTA meeting.

The Can-a-Character projects were the culminating activity to the students’ recent study of characters, where they learned about external traits, internal traits, characteristics and personality traits, as well as how they relate to other characters. Additionally, they discussed problems characters often encounter and how they go about solving them. As part of the project, students had to write about their characters on sentence strips, which were placed inside the can. They not only had to find words that described their characters, but reasons to support their conclusions from their books.
