Connolly School fifth-graders in Krystle Gonzalez’s class hosted an Ancient Civilization Museum on April 8 for their parents and students in other classes.

At the museum, students displayed PowerPoint presentations, hands-on projects and posters they created based on ancient civilizations. The museum served as a culminating activity to the class’ study on nonfiction research and its social studies unit on Ancient Civilizations of Latin America. Prior to the event, students chose an ancient civilization that they wanted to learn more about and were paired with other classmates interested in the same topic. The fifth-graders worked cooperatively and had fun sharing what they learned about ancient civilizations with others.
