Glen Cove High School junior Julia Farley received a Best in Show award at the annual Long Island Media Arts Show held at Five Towns College on April 1.

This was Julia’s first time presenting at the show and she made quite an impression. One particular judge, who is an award-winning cinematographer and filmmaker, called her piece "flawless" and said, "I wouldn't change a thing. You have a future!" It was a great moment for Julia, as well as all of the Glen Cove students in the audience.
Junior Laura Roesch and seniors Maggie Muzante and Aaron Hall also presented their work and received critical acclaim from the video/film professionals that adjudicate at the festival. Maggie and Aaron are TV III- Independent Study students. Julia and Laura are TV Production II students. Media Communications teacher Christopher Barry expressed his pride in all of the students’ work.

As a Best in Show honoree, Julia qualified to be screened at the First Exposure Film Festival this spring sponsored by the Suffolk County Film Commission, where she will have an opportunity for her work to be selected for viewing at the prestigious Hamptons International Film Festival.

Glen Cove High School has been attending the Long Island Media Arts Show for 26 years, since the show’s inception. Students have always made a strong showing. This is the fourth consecutive year that Glen Cove students were recognized in the Best in Show category, in addition to the many other achievements received over the years.
