Jazz Fine Arts Festival at Gribbin

Gribbin School held its annual Jazz Fine Arts Festival on June 1. The festival featured the showing of a jazz cartoon created by music teacher JoAnn Criblez and second-grade students.

During the evening event, students took part in a jazz dance presentation, which was the culmination of a dance residency they participated in last month under the guidance of teaching artist Mickey Davidson during physical education classes. The students also took part in a jazz singalong and escorted their families around the school building to view the wonderful jazz-inspired art show they created under the direction of art teacher LeeAnn Palazzo.

Everyone in attendance enjoyed refreshment outside in the beautiful early evening while live jazz musicians played. They included Gribbin alumnus Michael Alvarez, who is also the uncle of a first-grade student, as well as two of his musician friends on keyboards and stand up bass. Everyone had a great time!
