The district opened its doors and welcomed students on Sept. 6 for what promises to be an exciting school year.

Throughout the district, educators eagerly awaited the arrival of students, including Deasy School’s new Principal Melanie Arfman and Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna, who greeted elementary students as they arrived ready to learn. Kindergartners enjoyed a few extra moments with parents in their respective classrooms before getting acclimated to their new environment, while first- and second-graders embarked on the school year with their new teachers leading the way.

Principal Arfman visited many classrooms throughout the morning, introducing herself and welcoming students. Arfman said she’s looking forward to creating relationships with students and their families in the upcoming school year.

“I’m incredibly excited to begin this school year as principal of Deasy School,” Arfman said. “It was a dream come true to see those smiling faces come through the door and I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to work closely with the Deasy family.”
