Boys Basketball Wins Tommy Robinson Memorial Tournament

The Glen Cove boys varsity basketball team won the Oyster Bay Tommy Robinson Memorial Tournament with a 47-33 win over Friends Academy on Dec. 2.

It was the team’s second consecutive win, with its first victory over Oyster Bay. Glen Cove’s Kevin Ernest received All-Tournament honors and led all scorers with 19 points. Neri Romero followed with 13 points and received tournament most valuable player honors.

"What a difference a year makes," said coach Pete Falen. "Last year we lost both games in the Oyster Bay tournament, barely scoring 40 points, and this year we walked away as tournament champions."

Improved defensive play along with talented young players has helped Glen Cove in their transition from a year ago. The team hopes to keep up its winning ways as they play at Locust Valley on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:15 p.m.
