Landing Students Work to Cure Pancreatic Cancer

Kudos to the Landing Elementary School Student Council, which helped to raise $174 for the Lustgarten Foundation to cure pancreatic cancer. Under the direction of advisors Maria DePace and Denise Pawlowski, Landing students sold purple ribbons during the month of November, which is National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (purple is also the official color of pancreatic cancer awareness).

The idea originated from Landing fourth-grader Mykela Pajuelo and her brother, fifth-grader Dylan Pajuelo, who lost their uncle to the disease. Lustgarten Foundation Event Coordinator Suzanne Beck recently visited the school to accept the check from Ms. DePace and the Landing Student Council.
