Glen Cove High School’s varsity softball team and students from Landing Elementary School have been recognized for their charitable efforts. Landing students raised $8,635 during the school’s Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, while members of the softball team held a softball clinic for the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club during spring break.

Both schools were selected to participate in the W20 Foundation’s Team Up 4 Community Program Long Island Spring Sports Heroes Challenge.

If selected as the winner, they have the opportunity to receive a scholarship or grant for their school or a nonprofit organization of their choice.

The number of votes a video receives decides who wins. The first place winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship/grant; second place will earn a $1,500 scholarship/grant; and third place will receive a $500 scholarship/grant.

Voting begins on May 1 and will conclude on May 8 at 6 p.m. To vote for Glen Cove’s varsity softball team and/or Landing students, click on the following link: http://teamup4community.org/2017-li-spring-sports-heroes-video-challenge-open
