The Board of Education and members of the administration celebrated the achievements of Glen Cove High School’s virtual enterprises students during the BOE meeting on May 8.

The students, under the direction of business teacher Judi Checola, were honored with a gold award for salesmanship at the Virtual Enterprises International 2017 Youth Business Summit in New York City on April 5. At the meeting, the students presented an overview of their virtual enterprise business, Click-n-Shop Groceries, discussing current economic conditions, profit margin and other aspects of the business. Those in attendance had an opportunity to watch a Click-n-Shop Groceries commercial the students created.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Maria Rianna and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Dr. Michael Israel commended the students on their achievements.

“All of you have done a wonderful job representing Glen Cove with all the skills you’ve acquired and how you’ve displayed them,” Dr. Rianna said.

Dr. Rianna also expressed her appreciation to Checola, who has spent countless hours working with students.

“This doesn’t happen without the dedication outside of the school day, as well as in the school day. Judi Checola has done an amazing job leading our students and giving them the support they need.”
