A Visit to Suffolk County Farm for Deasy Students

Deasy kindergarteners recently visited the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank and had an opportunity to be part of a working farm.

The students were able to see and pet many animals they have read about and written about. They also participated in an embryology class that reinforced their classroom experience hatching ducks and fed many of the animals on the farm. The students were able to use all of their senses, as they learned about farm life. They giggled as the goats licked their hands when they fed them and listened closely for all of the distinct sounds around them. There was so much to see and learn. Kameron in Wendy Romanoff’s class said that the best part of the farm trip was the hayride. He liked singing ‘YAH-HOO” each time the class saw other children, adults, or workers on the farm. Kindergartener Kaitlyn Grech couldn’t decide her favorite part of the trip. “I just loved everything about it,” she said.
