Kids Know Their Characters

Mrs. Gallo's second-grade class at Gribbin School demonstrated their understanding of the importance of main characters to a story and their creativity by crafting “Character Cans” based on stories they read for a recent book report.  The students explored the main character's actions and personalities and inferred the character's traits based on the information they obtained from the story. Anna Basil, who read Samantha: An American Girl Holiday and Christine Cleremont, who read Judy Moody, are pictured here. The book report assignment was a follow-up to a character unit in the classes’ reading workshop.
