Honoring Our Retirees

During the June Board of Education Business meeting, the Glen Cove Board honored the district’s retiring staff members. While not all of the 11 retirees were on hand to receive their Certificate of Appreciation from the Board, each person was recognized for their dedicated service to the children of Glen Cove. They represent more than 210 years of cumulative service.

Special recognition was given to retiring Glen Cove High School Assistant Principal Sheryl Goodine for her 34 years of service as both a teacher and administrator. A graduate of the Glen Cove Schools, Ms. Goodine and her family were the driving force behind the desegregation of the Glen Cove Schools in the 1950s.

Glen Cove Board of Education President Richard Maccarone, who opted not to seek re-election to the Board, was also honored for his service to the community.
