Helen Turner, director of youth education at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, visited Robert M. Finley Middle School sixth-graders to deliver The Power of Words presentation on Nov. 16.

The Power of Words is designed for students to understand the meaning and historical context of words that are used in our society that discriminate, segregate and alienate people.  The purpose of the presentation is to teach our youth about the dangers of antisemitism, racism, bullying and all other manifestations of intolerance. The presentation promotes resistance to prejudice and advocates respect for every human being.

Special thanks to Ms. Turner, Principal Nelson Iocolano and the sixth-grade teachers who supported and assisted with the preparation and planning of this grade-level presentation.
