New Concession Stand Opens at GCHS

While Glen Cove High School celebrated its 50th anniversary during Homecoming 2012, the school began a new era, simultaneously celebrating the inaugural year of its new concession facility. The concession is the result of a groundswell of community support borne from years of fundraising, led by the Glen Cove High School Booster Club.

The new facility was busy with patrons throughout the game. Fans lined up hungry and left with full bellies, from the homecoming pre-game to the final whistle. The smell of sausage and peppers, hamburgers, hot dogs and other delicious snacks filled the air in the vicinity. (The soft opening of the concession actually took place during the first night game of the season). The concession was manned by many of the proud contributors who inspired the effort and have followed it through, including past presidents Linda Perlman and Maureen Pappachristou, Vincent Martinez and Dave Spy.

Some donated money to the effort, some materials and equipment; still others lent their craftsmanship and technical expertise. Some just gave of their time, but every effort of volunteerism and every donation, no matter how large or small, is appreciated. The Glen Cove School District extends special thanks to the following contributors for helping to make the new concession a reality: Paul Todd, S. Paolillo and Sons, Maccarone Plumbing, M. Gaudio Electric, Moretto Masonry Supply, Glen Plaza Masonry Supply, Phil-Mar Roofing, J.U. Construction, The Locksmith, Kelly Farnan Construction, Dedas Construction, Giambrone Construction, North Shore Tile and Marble, Greenvale Electric Supply, Kauffman Brothers Plumbing Supplies, Tom Trakakis, Mike Loria, Kevin Monahan and Danny Interior and Exterior Painting.

While the concession is equipped with grills, a refrigerator, a freezer, stoves and other vital appliances, the Booster Club continues to raise funds with hopes of someday fully equipping the facility, including providing public restrooms.
