Diane Williams, Science Technology Entry program manager, brought 36 medical students from NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine to Glen Cove High School during their Day of Service on Nov. 16.

Nearly 400 students across all grades attended this day of service in their science classes. The high schoolers listened to the medical students describe their own college and career journeys that led them to medical school. The college students shared what they learned and how they used their experiences to craft their unique applicant profiles when they decided to apply to medical school. High school students took away that life does not often follow a linear road and may take several reroutes. They also had the chance to learn how to take blood pressure during this interactive session.

All in all, it was a chance for the high school students to look toward their future and explore opportunities. The school is thankful to have the chance for collaboration with NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.
