The Glen Cove High School Select Chorale is one of only 10 choirs in the region invited to participate in the Westminster Choir College Invitational Choral Festival, to be held on March 8. Located in Princeton, N.J., Westminster Choir College is one of the top choral schools in the country.

“We are aware of your fine work, and would like to invite you and your ensemble to our campus to participate in this celebration of choral music,” wrote Dr. Amanada Quist, professor of conducting at Westminster, in a letter sent to GCHS Select Chorale director Edward Norris.

Each school invited to perform at the festival will participate in a clinic and a performance with the Westminster Chapel Choir. The festival is designed to inspire Westminster students to listen and grow in their appreciation of the choral arts, and to be exposed to other great programs from the area.

“This is truly an honor…and yet another testament to the hard work and fine performance of our select chorale,” said Mr. Norris, whose group was invited to perform at the prestigious American Choral Directors Association Convention last year. “While at the festival we will be listening to other choirs as well as working with one of the fine choral conductors at Westminster. I am so proud of our students for this latest achievement.”
