Christmas in January

In the spirit of the holiday season (or post holiday season), Jacqueline Morra's Italian classes at Finley Middle School learned about La Befana, also referred to as “the Italian Christmas Witch.”  On January 6, La Befana, the traditional gift giver of the holiday season in Italy, leaves presents in stockings for young children, much in the way Santa Claus does for children in the U.S.  She also leaves coal in the stockings of children who were naughty.  La Befana visited Ms. Morra's classroom and left treats for her students to find. Pictured (from left to right) are Mrs. Morra as La Befana, Daniel Grella, Joseph Cappiello and Samantha Bosworth).
