“Aladdin Jr.” is a one-act, seven-scene musical adapted from the animated Disney film “Aladdin,” which is an adaptation of the folk tale of the same name. The Finley Middle School rendition includes many of the same popular songs from the Disney movie, including "Friend Like Me” and "A Whole New World.” Aladdin is played by Sam Israel, while Alyssa Zangari plays Princess Jasmine.

The story begins inside the gates of the Royal Palace in the faraway city of Agrabah, where Princess Jasmine prepares to choose a husband. Against her wishes, her father the Sultan insists that she select from among three visiting princes; however, a fleeing bread thief interrupts their public introduction. Wandering among the crowd, a poor street urchin, Aladdin, suddenly finds himself holding the stolen bread and pursued by royal guards. Amidst the commotion, Jasmine seizes the opportunity to escape into the bustling marketplace, where she bumps into Aladdin, and the two become attracted to one another.
