Nicole Khaimov, a senior at Glen Cove High School, has been selected as a semifinalist in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Every year, more than 1.5 million high school students across the nation enter this academic competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying

Test, and approximately 16,000 of them are identified as semifinalists. Those who achieve this level of distinction represent the highest-scoring entrants in each state and have the opportunity to advance to finalist status, with the prospect of winning scholarship awards. Congratulations, Nicole!

Fifth grade students at Landing School took part in educational and fun activities along with their peers on the first day of school. Mrs. Laura-Ann Hazen’s class used yarn to conduct a getting-to-know-you activity. This was similar to what Interim Principal Alexa Doeschner used as a closing activity for the end of the year with teachers at Landing. Meanwhile, students in Mrs. Stefanie Liptzin’s fifth grade class had fun “shopping” in the class’ new Teachers College Reading Library.
