After months of uncertainty surrounding graduations across the country, Glen Cove High School’s Class of 2020 celebrated their graduation on June 26 with an outdoor commencement ceremony marking the end of unique, but memorable school year.

The graduates, who were split into five socially distanced ceremonies, were allowed two invited guests, were spaced six-feet apart from their classmates and were required to wear masks. But it was a small price to pay and did not put a damper on the excitement as students smiled and cheered as they processed onto the football field, while their guests beamed with pride.

Principal Antonio Santana and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maria Rianna, spoke to the students reminding them that the world is theirs to conquer and that their dedication, kindness and a positive outlook can take them anywhere they choose.

The senior class valedictorian, Nicole Khaimov, salutatorian Megan Fahey, honorarian Caitronia Greene and class presidents Carina Gigliotti and Victoria Xikas each spoke to their classmates virtually through prerecorded speeches that were livestreamed to the school’s website on graduation day.

Congratulations to the Glen Cove Class of 2020!
