The Student Council at Connolly Elementary School held its annual election on Friday, Nov. 1. With the positions of president and treasurer open, there were six candidates hoping to represent their school for the 2019-2020 year. Each candidate campaigned by creating posters that were displayed throughout the school and addressed their peers on election day describing why they were the best person for their desired position. The Student Council election is an important part of teaching students how the democratic process works. The elections are the culmination of weeks of class and grade level elections. Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna also spoke to students about the importance of voting.
