STREAM in Our School District

In the fall of 2014, the Glen Cove City School District piloted a STEM program for students in grades one, three, four and five. During the 2014-2015 school year, students met with their STEM teacher twice monthly.

During STEM classes, students focused on developing their problem solving and critical thinking skills, were introduced to basic coding and concentrated on various physical science topics.

After the pilot, it was clear that the program should be expanded so that it could reach all students in kindergarten through grade five.

Over the past three years, the STEM program has evolved into STREAM. The district has added the R for research and A for art.  All students in grades kindergarten through fifth will meet for STREAM classes weekly.
